It’s summertime and the weather is perfect for making that beach trip you’ve been dreaming of since the winter months faded into history. Who doesn’t love a day full of sun, waves, and friends? But wouldn’t the trip be even better if you could squeeze a workout into your day of fun?

If you’re like me, your usual trip to the beach includes a lot of splashing and lounging and very little in the way of legitimate exercise that will keep you looking great in your swimsuit for the rest of the summer. It doesn’t have to be this way! The beach is actually a great place to burn some calories and shake up your usual workout routine.

What to bring:

-sunscreen
-extra water
-a small post workout snack
-workout clothes
-your bands!

Getting Started:

Just like any other workout, you still need to stretch and warm up your muscles before you begin exercising. For a warm-up try a nice run along the beach, enjoy the view and get your exercise routine off to a great start.

Sample Workout:

Here’s a great leg and back workout perfect for the beach and it only requires a single medium band (or other bands of your choice) that can fit in your pocket.

Wrap-up:

Finished with the workout? Now it's time to stretch! Yes you stretched before, but a post-workout stretching can save you a lot of soreness the day next day. Feeling a little sandy after your workout and stretching? Head to the waves and rinse off and return to your usual beach of splashing and lounging. Is there any better way to relax after a workout?
